Dell Rapids Fire Department
The city of Dell Rapids was established in 1871. We are a full service community with a population of about 3,700 people. The fire department was established in 1894.
We just completed our new fire station in 2011 at our new location of 401 W. 4th St. Our department currently has a mixture of 25 certified firefighters and EMTs. We
average approximately 225 calls per year, consisting of fires, vehicle injury accidents, and medical emergencies along with public service duties. Our apparatus consists
of a new rescue rig put in service in 2011 equipped with a jaws unit. We also employ 2 engines, 2 tenders, 2 grass fire rigs, and a snowmobile trailer with 2 fully
equipped snowmobile rescue machines. We have room to add more volunteers to our great membership of firefighters.
